Korea emerged as a singular political entity as Gojoseon. After the invasion of the Han dynasty of China, the Koreans fragmented into numerous independent states. The kingdoms of Buyeo, Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, and Gaya became prevalent and unified the minor states.
Afterwards, Buyeo was absorbed by Goguryeo while Gaya was separated between Beakje and Silla. This starts the Three Kingdoms of Korea era.
Archaeological evidence suggests that proto-Koreans were migrants from south-central Siberia during bronze age. It is noteworthy to mention that there were already people living on the Korean peninsula from Neolithic age, and thus it is logical to assume that there was intermingling between both of these populations.
The largest concentration of dolmens in the world is found on the Korean Peninsula. In fact, with an estimated 35,000-100,000 dolmen, Korea accounts for nearly 70% of the world's total. Similar dolmens can be found in Manchuria, the Shandong Peninsula, and Kyushu, yet it is unclear why this culture only flourished so extensively on the Korean Peninsula compared to the remainder of Northeastern Asia.
