I Got A Boy는 아마도 처음 청취/시청 했을 때 감이 오지는 않을 것이다 (사실... 절대 안 올 것이다.) 하지만 매번 들을 때마다 이 곡의 천재성이 점점 확실해 진다.  팝의 룰을 깨는 대단히 진보적이고, 용감한 곡이다.  이 시대 가장 익사이팅한 한국 걸그룹으로서의 소녀시대의 전설을 더욱 더 확고히 해 줄 것이다.  작년이 팝음악계로서는 칙칙하고 시시한 한해였다면, I Got A Boy는 2013년을 참신하게 시작하는 확실한 방법이다.

이렇게 대박인 노래는 그만큼 뛰어난 뮤직비디오를 필요로 한다.  그리고 기대대로 소녀시대가 그것을 보여준다. 소녀시대는 이미 K-pop 최고의 그룹이다.  하지만 I Got a Boy로 인해 그들은 이제 가장 혁신적인 그룹이라는 타이틀마저 더 얻게 되었다.

이 노래에 대해 불만이 전혀 없다.  의심할 여지 없이 소녀시대 최고의 곡이다, 아니 아마도 지금까지 K-pop 최고의 곡이다.  남자들의 선망이던 이 소녀들을 온전한 음악적 그룹으로 바꾸어 놓은 노력에 대해 SM Ent에게 찬사를 보낸다.

이 대단한 곡은 최고를 뛰어넘는 비주얼까지도 갖췄다.  Nicki Minaj가 흥분해서 비명을 지를만한 색감과, 스웩이 의인화된 것 같은 군무...  올해가 시작한지 얼마 되지 않았지만, 남은 2013년 동안 이런 영광스러운 감각적 풍성함을 이렇게 짧은 시간안에 집약한 것을 찾기는 힘들 것 같다.

Somehow it isn't with the sounds constantly playing off and evolving with each other, complimenting the girls' knack harmonies, to create one of the most-forward thinking lead pop singles heard in any country. With this title track, Girls' Generation just set the bar truly high for pop in 2013.

결론적으론 그렇지 않다고 할 수 있는데, 끊임없이 이어짐과 동시에 서로 잘 조화를 이루며 발전해가는 사운드가 소녀들의 뛰어난 하모니를 받쳐주어 어느 나라에서도 전에 없던 진보적인 리드 팝 싱글이 탄생한 것이다. 이 타이틀 곡으로 소녀시대는 2013년의 팝의 기준을 확실히 높였다.
