"K-Pop," or Korean Pop, has been one of the most widely influential cultural phenomenons over the past decade.
Idols of the genre seem to turn up all over the entertainment scene.
On Monday the mainstays of K-Pop gathered in Seoul to show off their talents at the 2011 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Award ceremony.
About 1,000 fans, including hundreds of Japanese, let their voices be heard at Olympic Hall in Seoul.
This annual award ceremony celebrates and recognizes the success of outstanding entertainers in popular arts and culture in South Korea.
Many top stars attended the ceremony to receive awards or to give performances.
Girls Generation sang the title song from their hit album "The Boys".
Some Japanese fans came to Seoul to see their idols perform.
Sakumoto Kana, Japanese fan, said, "We like BEAST so much that we told the office we would be off today to come to South Korea. We are very happy, dying to see BEAST performing."
