All variations of the latest Vietnamese K-19 universal ERDL uniforms in service with the People's Army of Vietnam. Though expected to replace the previous K07 & K17 designs, these uniforms are not without their controversies. From left to right: ground forces, border guard, air force, navy, coast guard, and special forces.

It can be seen that the K19 strongly resembles the Taiwanese ERDL pattern that Vietnam has produced previously. Although ERDL has demonstrated to be an effective camo, turning it into a universal pattern (i.e different colors for environments, or in this case different service branches) was a pretty questionable move. We don't see any good reason behind why border guard troops need a separate shade of green uniforms from those of ground troops while blue colors on the air force, navy, and coast guard uniform is legitimately pretty stupid. There were photos of air defense troops at their positions in uniform sticking out very clearly from a high viewpoint while blue camo on the maritime uniforms would only conceal you in the water - bad for any other conventional land environment or naval infantry when they do amphibious landings.

On a separate note, Vietnam's Dac Cong special force commandos no longer wear the duck hunter pattern. They switched to the K19 universal pattern to be more unified in appearance with the rest of the PAVN.
