Moody’s: Expect Boeing to ‘aggressively bid’ for Air Force trainer program

It looks like we can expect The Boeing Co., the Chicago aircraft manufacturer that has unsuccessfully bid on both the Air Force’s next-generation fighter and bomber programs over the last two decades, to make an aggressive offer for the next-generation trainer aircraft program.
That’s what credit analyst firm Moody’s Investors Service Inc. expects, according to a Thursday report.
Boeing Co. and partner Saab AB unveiled two production T-X aircraft in St. Louis in September as part of a new pilot training system being developed for the U.S. Air Force. The team is one of three competing for the $16 billion contract.
"We believe Boeing's need to bolster its position as a prime contractor on a significant [Department of Defense] program following missing out on the next generation fighter and, most recently, on the next generation bomber, could have caused it to aggressively bid for the T-X contract,” Moody’s wrote, referring to the $16.3 billion program that will likely be awarded this year.
Moody’s focused more specifically on Lockheed and Boeing’s entrants into the competition and expects the final decision will be based on price.
"We anticipate that affordability initiatives could play a heavy hand in the DoD's selection,” Moody’s writes. "We understand that both aircraft meet, if not exceed the bid specifications, with the capabilities of the Boeing aircraft somewhat more robust than those of the T-50A."
무디스 왈 보잉 T-X가 T-50A보다 고성능에 가격도 싸답니다.
