'이집트의 전쟁 목표는 이스라엘이 1967년에 점령한 시나이 반도를 이집트에게 되돌려주는 협상 테이블에 나오도록 강요하는 것일 뿐, (대외적으로 항상 떠들었던) 이스라엘이란 나라 자체를 없애려고 하는 것이 아니다'라는 것을 분명히 알렸고

이는 사다트가 전임자 나세르와 달리 이스라엘이 핵무기를 갖고 있다고 전제하고, 만약 이집트군이 이스라엘 국가의 존재 자체를 위협하면 이스라엘이 핵무기를 쓸 것이라고 판단했기 때문이라고 하네요.

북한이 핵무기를 가지면 우리 군의 작전계획들 중에서 북한을 완전히 점령하는 작전계획은 '없던 것'이 되지 않을까 싶네요. 평양으로 진격하다가 핵무기로 반격을 당하게 가능성이 매우 높아지니.

그리고 전쟁이 나기 8개월 전 1973년 2월 23일 이집트 사다트 대통령의 국가안보 보좌관이 미국의 닉슨 대통령을 만나서 한 얘기를 담은 기록에 이스라엘이 1967년에 빼앗은 시나이 반도를 돌려주면 이집트는 관계 정상화를 할 용의가 있다는 내용이 있습니다. 전쟁 1년 전인 1972년 10월 16일 이집트의 미국 외교관이 국무부에 보고한 telegram에도 같은 내용이 있습니다.
