Previously we reported that the Corvette Acquisition Project was already being finalized with HHI, as we received confirmation from industry sources that HHI was already finalizing subcontract deals with suppliers for the project as early as several months ago.

Also we mentioned that HHI designed their HDC-3100 large corvette desiign specifically to meet the Philippine Navy's requirement, and for them to post the draft design on their website was a clear indication of things to come.

HHI competed against Turkey's ASFAT, which offered a derivative of their MILGEM Ada-class corvette, similar in layout as the version they are building for the Pakistan Navy.

HHI's HDC-3100 design is an improvement of the HDF-2600 design used in the construction of the Jose Rizal-class frigates. It features an enlarged and lengthened hull, longer helideck to allow operation of at least a Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk (which appears to be a few meters short and insufficient in the Jose Rizal-class), a larger VLS space for 12-16 cell VLS for air defense missiles, and other improvements.

The corvettes will also come with the VLS system, a CIWS, and a towed array sonar, all of which were "Fitted for but not with" in the Jose Rizal-class frigates.

Being Korean, we are expecting HHI to again use the Hanwha Systems Naval Shield ICMS and LIGNex1 C-Star anti-ship missiles, as well as other subsystems including the Oto Melara 76mm Super Rapid gun, the Aselsan SMASH 30mm gun, Terma C-Guard countermeasures system, and SEA triple torpedo tubes.

Improvements may include the use of Hensoldt's TRS-4D air/surface search radar, and hopefully the latest version of Naval shield ICMS similar to those planned on the ROKN's FFX future frigates."

대충 맥디피셜 필리핀 국방부가 현대중공업 HDC-3100 2척 계약을 발표할거라고 함. 

맥디 말로는 현중이 몇 개월 전부터 하청업체에 부품 계약을 맺고 있었다고 함. 

HDF-2600 (호세 리잘급) 과 비교해서 더 커지고 MH-60R 헬리콥터 운용이 가능한 헬리덱, 12-16셀 VLS 등 개선점이 있다고함.
+ 전에 호세 리잘급은 배 "만" 사고 나중에 무장을 장착한다고 했지만, HDF-3100은 VLS, CIWS, TASS 모두를 장착한 상태로 인도될 것.
